3 Benefits of Grille Guards

by Quality Bumper on December 9, 2011

Grille guards are a great addition to any vehicle. Many people think that these are only for large, heavy trucks that haul immense amount of weight such as in construction but this is not entirely true. While it is common for trucks to have grille guards that do this many people are realizing that there are benefits to having them for any vehicle.

1. First and foremost, grille guards enhance the look of your car. They come in a large variety of design and colors and are fitted for your vehicle. But grille guards don’t only look good they do exactly what their name implies; protect the grille of your car. There are many things that damage your car (especially the grille) and a grille guard can be the first line of defense against that. If you have ever been in or seen a car that was in an accident you always see the grille smashed and dented in likely causing additional damage to the engine because the unprotected grille wasn’t strong enough to support the oncoming force. While these won’t protect your car completely they can add an additional level of protection to your grille and ultimately the front of your engine block in the event of a collision.

2. Grille guards can also protect your headlights. Many of the designs for grille guards can be fitted to cover your headlights and extend far enough out to protect them. This is seen to be effective in minor collisions or “fender benders” and can save you the hassle of getting new head lights. In addition, there are many unforeseen objects that may hit your car on the road (or even off it if you are doing something like camping) and a busted headlight is not only inconvenient, it’s dangerous.

3. Grille guards can also be used to help protect the front bumper of your car. Just like your grille and your headlights, grille guards can be very important in the event of a collision. Grille guards are typically made of hard, solid metal like steel and are stronger than most, if not all, bumpers on the average car or truck. You don’t need a collision to see the benefits of this. No one is a perfect driver and sometimes we ding shopping carts, pull in too much in a parking space, or misjudge how our car sits in space. While this is normal we still hate to see dings and dents in our bumpers and a protecting piece of metal covering it can save you the hassle of replacing and prevent you from being reminded of something silly you did by having to see that little ding or dent in it every day.

Choosing a grille guard that best fits your car or truck is great way to protect the quality of your vehicle as well as ultimately lower repair costs in the event of an accident whether a collision or debris on the road.
